What time of the day do you hit the gym?

With my crazy work schedule, I am all over the place with when I can work out. When do you go? And do you find an advantage to going at a certain time? Like the morning for example, you are using fat for energy, but I’m usually too tired to hit it at 5 AM. Thanks....... Redrock

I usually train between 1-3 most days. Days like today and tomorrow I’ll be training at 6-8pm.

I prefer around 1-3 because it gives me enough time to get a few meals in, hydrate, beat the gym traffic and not be too tired.

I always liked the 1-3pm time frame too for the exact reasons Ohno started.

MK, do you go on an empty stomach? Or do you load up first? I want to get the last little stubborn fat from lower abs. I’m just not sure the fat store will give me enough energy to go all out that early in the day...... Redrock

I get up at 6am.
Hit the gym 7:30am

Empty stomach but I do use BCAA.
Thats what I do now.

But other times I do have a protein shake with oats first thing in the morning.
I get up over an hour before I leave for the gym so its plenty of time to absorb the shake.

Idk. When I used to go early in morning, lost way more fat than any other time of day...... Redrock

40 years ago the thinking was to train early in the morning on an empty stomach...you would burn all your stored glycogen...then do 20 minutes or so of easy aerobics...you would be burning stored fat for energy on the aerobics...

Having no sugars or fuel in the morning should kickstart Gluconeogenesis though no? So by training with zero fuel the first place your body will look is directly at your muscle proteins. I can't buy into fasted anything, I'd rather look like a fat turd like I do than lift or do cardio with zero food in my belly. For those that have done fasted cardio and seem to believe there was a benefit feel free to argue I'm just an idiot. I do believe however the science behind fasted cardio/lifting is just not there as with a standard calorie deficit coupled with weight training and cardio.

It makes zero difference. People that think otherwise are misinformed.

Calories in vs calories out.

Same thing I do. I workout “fasted” because I have no appetite that early. If I don’t workout in the morning, I’ll find every excuse in the book to not do it.

I do legs on the weekends. I ALWAYS eat before legs. If not, I would not be able to finish the workout

Lift weights 4pm to 5pm Swim from 5:30pm to 6:30pm then lift weights from 9:30 pm to 10:30pm i sleep till 3pm most days get around 11 hours sleep a night
