I don't disagree with endurance training. I have heard my coaches and seen other coaches on Youtube discuss though how if someone is stronger they will inherently use less energy comparable. Basically if I am going 100% the entire time defending and attacking while my opponent is only using 60% I will always gas first. Conditioning won't matter in the run of things because the stronger guy doesn't need to exert himself nearly as much. That is why I am focusing on strength currently as endurance is built in our cardio warm up's doing wall balls, straight arm holds ect. as well as 10 min rolling rounds. If I can bring my strength up while I continue to work technique and endurance in class I will see a far greater return.

I understand what you are saying. I don't personally know how your conditioning is currently nor the size of people you are rolling. Everything you are doing sounds great. I know you lift weights too. But I'd be doing even more cardio to another level after your BJJ if you are trying to compete per say. You take gear so you are able to recover faster. And if you take the right stuff.. you have knarly energy haha. Take advantage of everything.

I am absolutely clueless in ideal training for MMA, but wouldn't hours of sparring be pretty damn good cardio in itself? You have no choice but to exert a fuck load of energy going against an opponent who isn't way stronger/skilled than you that cant just take you out quickly, right?

It really is. Rolling builds stamina incredibly. We roll with all different skill and strength levels so some rolls you can be submitted every 20 seconds if they don't let you "work" but others are more evenly matched which really burns those energy stores.

Stoned af right now and thought about what an awful idea rolling and sparring on D n P would be

Jesus just the horror stories of taking it alone have me shuttering at that concept. Have never and would never mess with that savage stuff.

Hahaha happy to see you back X.

Jiu-Jotsu - “The Gentle Art”. Sole reason for its bringing back from Japan where it originated was to give smaller men an advantage in hand to hand combat against a bigger opponent on the battlefield.

DieViolent, brute strength takes a back seat to technique and skill in Jiu-Jitsu as it seems you already know. The biggest thing is knowing when and how to move your body. Grip was great advice…. With gi due to lapel grabs and other gi holds or No Gi where sweat makes it even harder to grip a moving opponent…. ie. wrist control (big part of setting subs)
For my grappling training it was grip 4x a week plus rolling and 45 minutes of core related to ground fighting. I used TRX bands as well to put myself in more vulnerable positions and work my mobility and agility from there.
I used to gas in 30 seconds on the mat and be like WTF. This was even after my first MT fight. Why? I was trying to muscle everything and not controlling my breathing. Once that clicked I could roll with high intensity for 30 min without losing my guts in the toilet and still be somewhat
It’s a journey man. Enjoy it. Focus on core strength including adductors. Isometrics will go farther with weights as opposed to reps. Ex. Db held in a curl position at 90 degrees and hold for time. This simulates working a rear naked or guillotine where some fighters need to let go of the hold for fear of gassing and having nothing left. Also increases punching power so bonus there. Flexibility is obviously important in BJJ but having dexterity and mobility to go with it can be dangerous. I used to be able to get one leg behind my head with no hands, never two like BJ Penn and them freaks. Eddie Bravo and that damn rubber guard lol. Gotta have some great hips and that takes time for most who didn’t grow into the sport.
And IMO Gordon Ryan, Felipe Galvao, Nicky Rod etc are no stranger to PEDs. A lot of times for recovery and in Gordon’s case that stomach issue has been out of control at times.

Hey bro, i have probably had the lowest and most petty arguments with @DieViolent , but the truth is that NONE of us are exceptional at anything lol. That's why we gravitate back to an internet discussion board and argue about people having discussions.

Some of us are in killer shape, some people have pretty good careers and do well for themselves, but nobody here is really that noteworthy in the grand scheme of the world.

i just find it easier not take ourselves and each other seriously. I don't really think any of us are bad people, and would bet that a lot of us would actually think people we dislike(d) on here are pretty cool in person.

It's an internet discussion board, it shouldn't really be a surprise or bother that people discuss things, ask questions, etc.

But i get it- we have all ran way more tren than we have had any business running in our lifetimes lol.

Carry on.
I don't even call them arguments it's just talking shit I think it's funny Not trying to hurt anyones feelings.

Hi bro welcome to the BJJ journey, as someone else mentioned, core strength and rotational power will help you tremendously, also make sure you have proper nutriton as I have found training BJJ enhanced vs natty to have very different nutrient requirements for me personally.
