fuck man. Reading what she said made my eyes well up again. Hopefully it's a pleasant surprise when they receive the donations, and it takes a good chunk of the financial burden off of them, they've been through enough...

I think they will be pleasantly surprised. It's fine for those within the community to be critical of our fund-raising. But I think Grizz's family will feel it's a respectable sum. Kristin has been very gracious.

I've been trying not to message her much. We've talked a bit. But I find her really attractive... and fighting the temptation to flirt. How sick is that? Uh... dude. I'm tearing up thinking about it. I needed to get that out. :(

lol, God damn it man. Only you could say something that would make me laugh in this thread. That just made me think of this:

that's good to hear though. Maybe copy em a few of the threads to show how much of an impact he's had on so many people? Just an idea...

I'm serious, man. It's got me kind of fucked up...

I'm afraid that if I sent her a little of what Grizz posted that she'd want more. She's asked me a little about it, and I pitched the idea of letting her on here to Phreezer and a couple other vets. But I think the general reply was that it could do more harm than good.

I agree with them, But I could have sworn there was a way to copy topics to a file on your computer. I would just copy and send the ones about his passing and the statements about him from the members

thinking doesn't hurt anybody, just don't do it. While I don't personally know you, you strike me as having more respect than that

Nah... sentimentality led me to think it may be a good idea to allow Grizz's family access to his enormous body of work. Grizz and I shared a fondness for brutal honesty... even so, I'm sure there's a lot here that he wouldn't want his family reading.

I quickly abandoned the idea.

I agree with them on total access. Still think the statements given by members he's affected would be a nice gesture

As many of you know our long time friend and staff member of many years took his own life last week. He moderated on this board for several years and moderated on quite a few others.

He was one of a kind. I won't even begin to try and sum up who he was in a few paragraphs. That would be impossible. Here he went by the moniker of His Grizzness and as "Grizzly" on quite a few other boards. His real name was Jeff Gerlick. He was 33 years old. He was a former amateur body builder and a professional MMA fighter. He had a degree in Philosophy and liked to use that debate most of us from time to time... the rest about him can be figured out in his 15K+ posts on this board and thousands of others elsewhere. He was active on the boards and part of this community for nearly 12 years.

Jeff didn't have any life insurance when he passed and his only income at the time was bouncing in bars and clubs. He didn't leave behind the resources his family needs to be able to pay for his funeral. And while his family wasn't poor they certainly weren't rich. The average funeral costs around $10K and because of this we'd like to do whatever we can as a community to help offset that cost.

As such, we've set up a paypal account to take donations from anyone who would like to make one. We will take 100% of the funds deposited into that account and give the money to Grizz's parents who are financially responsible with laying him to rest.

This isn't a demand or anything. It's completely voluntary. If Grizz touched your life in some way and you want to do something to say thank you for that this would be a good way to do it.

Donations can be made through paypal to randypike27@gmail.com for whatever amount you wish. Even if it's just $15 or $20 it would be appreciated and it would help.

I know this isn't a sticky (yet) but that's only because people tend to not even look at stickies on the boards. I'll make sure this thing get's bumped for a few days and then I'll make it a sticky.

Feel free to post any good well wishes to his family or any good grizz memories in this thread.

He was a good friend to many of us for a lot of years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Peace and R.I.P. my brother...

I am at a loss of words, being around the bodybuilding boards for more than 10 plus years we have seen so many good friends come and go. I have been blessed with winning my battle with breast cancer of both breast. Grizz played a huge role in supporting me when I was down and depressed. His family and friends will be in my prayers.

I haven't been active on the forum now for a while, had no idea this happened.

Donations still going? Can I still send?

Money has already been sent, bro. I may be able to help you out. But I'll need to talk to Randy and Grizz's family. Maybe you can send something directly to them... PM me.

I talked to Grizz's sister for a couple hours last night. She sounds really good. She says her parents are devastated and she has her ups and downs. But-- we talked a lot about him and there was way more laughing than anything else.

They had pretty open relationship, it seems Jeff was honest with her about his lifestyle. She apparently walked in on him a few years ago with a pin in his ass. After that he came clean.

The outpouring of love and support from this community has really touched them. Although, they really don't know what this community is. Just that we're friends from Jeff's fight clubs or gyms. She said that it was comforting to know that Grizz had touched so many lives in such a positive way.

Anyway--- just wanted to let you guys know.

The following Thank You card was sent to Randy from the Gerlick's.

Randy and Friends,

Thank you for loving our son and for remembering him with such a generous gesture! If any of you are ever in the Chicago area, please reach out to us, our home is open to you as your hearts were open to Jeff. We would love to meet you and spend time reliving the happy moments. Or just call and we'll talk.

The Gerlicks
Casey, Linda, and Kristin

There was also a 3 page letter from Jeff's mom that was pretty intense and personal, according to Randy. I haven't read it. It may not ever get posted here, but I kinda think it's the thought that counts so I wanted you guys to know.

Also, no one has mentioned it, but some may have noticed that the round number that was sent to the Gerlick's did not match exactly the funds that we received. The "change" was used to plant orange trees in Jeff's honor.

If anyone here is on ABB and wants to copy and paste this over there, that would be cool. Irish said he could get to it late tonight or tomorrow.
