I changed my bi and tri work out

I dropped weight, started going way slower and really concentrated on form and taking my time. You wouldn't believe the burn and pump I get from that. And I really feel like its helping alot. I posted this same thing in another forum and the guys said no no no hard and heavy, what do you guys think. This really seems to be great. But I want to hear some other thoughts. Oh and I do as many as I can on each set. But when you go so slow you still only get like 10 reps from 5-10lbs lighter per arm. Does that sound weird to you guys?

I don't think it sounds weird at all. I think variety is the key, and keeping the muscles confused and adapating. I would stick w/ it for awhile, see if it works for you. Then later on down the line try something different again.

I think the whole key was that you were concentrating on proper form, if you are doing super heavy weight with shitty form then you haven't really accompished anything, but yeah stick with the lighter weights and correct form and work your way up from there

I've had good luck mixing things up like that.....Originally HAD to use light weights when coming back from injuries and was very careful to concentrate on form. Noticed muscles coming back pretty quickly as well as pumps and related DOMS that I had almost forgotten about (which I generally take as a good sign that I'm doing it right). Now that everything's pretty much healed, I still throw in the occasional sets of low-med weight 10-12 reps with VERY strict form and timing. I've done this with everything from hammer curls to squats.

I don't see where doing what you're doing will hurt any. However, so you don't get confused and misguided, the pump has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not you're gaining muscles.

To any that read this: I am not an expert, or a pro. I noticed my rehab and my muscles responding well to lightening up & concentrating on form. Knowing my body, I can tell I'm getting quality exercise by how my muscles react, ie: pumps, post workout muscle fatigue/soreness, etc. Just how my body works. Didn't mean to imply that my personal physiological responses should serve as indicators for anyone else to guage their progress.....

Sorry your post got hijacked this way Big-T.

Hey, smartass, I wasn't talking to or about you. I was referring to the original poster and his thoughts on the pump being an indicator of a good workout. Whether you like it or not, the pump AND doms ARE NOT and never will be an indicator of an effective workout. That's period and it's final and YES it IS a guideline that can't be argued.

Tell you what. You do 400 pushups(great for getting sore and pumped as hell) and I'll do a total of 25 reps on the bench press. I've got a dollar says I get MUCH bigger than you.

I'm not saying anything about anyone but myself and that there are plenty of people for whom low weight, highly controlled sets have worked very well.

Again, sorry your thread got hijacked Big T.

Read your original post again? I didn't read it the first time. Like I said before, I wasn't addressing anything you had said. It was BigT's comments I was addressing.

You, on the other hand, made the assertion that GDSFT and myself are spouting nonsense or are in some other way incorrect in what we have said.
