I don't remember ever using them before. I had 225 on for flat bench and decided to throw 'em on. I couldn't notice any difference other that the bar was a bit heavier but I didn't notice it getting heavier as I lifted it. Seemed pretty pointless. Or are they meant for lighter loads? If so why the fuck are they always laying by the benches?

Try bands ... fucking intense
I was doing banded benches in my garage gym a while back, got a bit forward with 225 on the bar and it rolled forward out of my hands and came down on the safeties at Mach 5 speed, luckily right at my chest, bar barely touched me. Made quite a racket, my wife was right there on the treadmill and had a minor freak out.
