Why has serum testing become preferred over IGF

Talking to a guy about blood testing for HGH and didn't have a definitive reason why everyone has switched to serum testing for GH over IGF levels.

Because IGF levels can vary greatly from person to person and serum levels are usually very consistent is the simple answer.

What @liquid_c said. I never used GH but tried a sample and my IGF was middle of normal but the GH level was a big fat goosegg. I.E. my GH (10yrs ago) was garbage. If baseline IGF is 150 and 3 months of GH has you 50+% higher it's not a placebo.
