the struggle.....

What's up all?!
Haven't been around lately. Had to give up lifting for a while, had no feeling in my legs, left one all the way down to my feet, was a real struggle just to get up or take a dump.
Started going to a chiro beginning of year, and things got worse.
Went to a ortho, started therapy, that got worse after 2 weeks, therapist said go back to doc.He stated everything the chiro was doing (traction/exercises/therapy) was making my issue way worse.

Had mri done, doc said I would need surgery(excessive spondylosis l3-l4 and 2 phuked up disks), therapy wouldn't help.He wanted to do anterior (through the stomach)fusion.
Had a second and third opinion, went with the second surgeon, said posterior is his specialty.
Had fusion surgery in July L3-L4-L5. Took about 3 hours, and went home same day.

Nerve pain GONE !!!!!!!!
My days of lifting heavy are done. too dang old.
Just getting back to lifting now, therapy was rough, but slowly getting better.
Just wanted to give a shout out and tell you guys, that fusion surgery works; at least for me. Being able to walk far and go out hunting makes it all worth it, and having an excuse to have the lady in different positions too !!!!!! ☺️

. Just get massage threpy or acupuncture. I don't know what happend to you but I'm deeply sorry it happened. Listen they got ronnie coleman to work out again and his back is severely messed up. Don't give up on what they can do for the future. Don't do chiros for now or anything like that. They can actually make you way worse in the shape your in.

I'm having to go lighter too due to hemorrhoid issues, had surgery for them in ,2005. Guess what? If you're genetically predisposed that can come back.

Put the heavy weights done. Go for more functional movements. Slower reps and a good mind muscle connection will keep the size and probably add some.
With you 100% the problem with getting old is we're still young at heart and we have to realize that a heart and mind might be young but our body is not took a long time to accept this

My trick is with heavy stuff bench, squat, deadlift my last sets used to be 3x8. now ill do one set of 6. Keep the strength so its easier to recover. Example is bench 8 reps 135, 8 reps 185, 8 reps 225, 8 reps 275, 6 reps 315. I always knock out the hard stuff first so thats the way id warm up. Young me would do 3x8 315. Old me that needs to recover one set of 6 with 315. After that there is no more warm ups. Everything else is the normal 3 sets of 8 or 3 sets of 10.

I have the same style. Started a few years back, and can't find a reason to change.
-improves form
-less prone to injury
-less likely to aggravate old injuries
-Gives you the opportunity to lift with weaker men in their home gyms during pandemics :ROFLMAO:
^not kidding. This is how I fell in love with the method.

Hope your ok one fit hope your resting and relaxing this weekend
Doing good!!!
Got full release from doc/surgeon 2 weeks ago, he said "no limits". He's a lifter too, so he knows how I'm anxious.
Trying to lose some fat gained now, but strength is coming back !!!!
It just feels funny going heavy on pulling movements, like rows or lat pull-downs, knowing I have 6 screws holding my lumbar vertebrate together now :cautious:
