Powerlifters: Deadlift Training

What do you do to get your Deadlift up? Im entering a Push/Pull in Jan and I really want to break the 700 Barrier.

damn bro, 700?!!!! 2 thumbs up to you, and not the peoples' thumb either.... anyway, you may consider trying to work some the following into your workouts:

partial deads

fulld deads off a block (2"-4" would be good)

good mornings & weighted hyperextensions -to strengthen the lower back

work your squat like a mofo and get your weights up. this will help to add strength for deads, especially to the beginning of the move.

weighted pullups are a great way to build forearms and grip strength if you need it. use a 45'er or 2 hung from the belt around your waist and keep the reps low, at about 5-6.

try some of these and let us know how it's going.

I think Sunday Im going to do Heavy Box Squats and then do Romainian DL's on 2" block. Then I,ll do all my extras.

I maxed on Box squats today for the first time.

Got 505 on a 12" Box and 555 on a 15" Box. Im 6'2" to give you an idea on my depth. Just a belt. Did a bunch of extra work training my hams, glutes, hips, quads, and calves.

I have maintained 288 for about a month. Currently waiting on a Parcel so I can take it to the next level.

My 3 training partners were a little surprised too. They missed 505 on the 15" Box while I got it on the 12".

Rack pulls today from the bottom pin. Thats around 3-4"below my knee. !7" from the floor. Worked up to 725. Oh Yeh!!

Alot of accessories and called it a day.

Today was a good day.

We did Chain Supported Good Mornings. Worked up to 650 for 3.
Then did Romanian's 425 for 5.

Bunch of accessories and called it.

You guys may like this. I am a highschool Powerlifting Coach "& Football" and we have a freshman "14 years old" who's wt. is 185 ht. 5'7" deadlifting 475 from the floor, bench is pretty good also 245 4 reps. Once he brings his squat up is going to be tough to beat. This kid is just built to powerlift and loves the sport. Hell I wish I could say it was my coaching but this kid had great form the first time he showed up in the complex.

coach damn thats good, 14 wait till his natty test really starts kickin,if you want him to be a super star keep him in football , but definately get him in wrestling, it will help more than anything! good luck.

Yea he works hard as hell and is a great rt. guard and D.T. he lettered, got about 20 qrts. in on varsity. The only problem with our school is our powerlifting and wrestling take place at the same time so he wants to pow lift instead of wrestling. I would not mind him wreslting but there coach wants then to loose to damn much wt. Hell he wanted him to get down to 155 class.

there is a guy who w/o out at the gym i go to and he is 63 and he can dead lift 600#. this is an amazing thing to see. i dont know his chest size but he has 20 inch arms approx 10-12%bf. we got to become friends and i asked him he he used anything? he told me he did dbol in the 70's and test ,dbol,deca in the 80s. he said nowadays he is on hrt.he has won a number of master division contests guys 600 is alot at anyage but at 63-very impressive. we may be going to the arnold classic so if you see a 30-something white guy w/ a older black guy stop and say hello and check this guy out
