Not sleeping

Hey brothers , I have been experiencing difficulty sleeping, wake up many times during the night
gasping or trying to catch breath. And it freaks me out. It makes me afraid to try and go back to sleep. It seems like it began when I started gaining size.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but wouldn't it be better to go see a MD vs asking the bros on here for what could possibly be a serious issue?

Sounds like sleep apena, I had that.
See a doctor, its deadly.

A friend of mine died from that some years back.
Was supposed to meet his mom for lunch, didnt show. Mom went to his place and found him dead in bed.

The guys are right it sounds exactly like sleep apnea but I would go get the checked out and have a sleep study if possible. Do you sleep with someone do they notice you stop breathing do you snore really loud do you have a big neck are you overweight ? Not only is it detrimental to your health it can can kill. The percentage of it killing people is very very low but the damaging effects it has on your body is long-lasting and potentially permanent

Sleep Apnea. Ive had it, you wake up and literally cant breathe and gasp for air for 30 seconds or so. It happens to either really fat people or bodybuilders who have a lot of mass in their chest/neck area, it constricts your breathing.

You need a cpap, you can die from sleep apnea.

Apnea. Get a sleep study done and get it under control. I couldnt tolerate CPAP but i had a mouthpiece i use when i sleep which works ok.

Apnea is serious. It killed Reggie White.

Hard to believe 25 extra pounds would cause me so much difficulty. I'm going to try the mouthpiece while I wait for my doctor's appointment thanks for all the advice my brothers

I used to occasionally wake up the same way. A sleep study indicated "positional sleep apnea" meaning when I'm on my back.

The good news is that you may not need a CPAC. My wife and I went with a dental device "SomnoDent". It was fitted by a dentist. Cured the problem.

Extra weight as measured by neck diameter in excess of 17" is a pretty good predictor of problems like this.

Need to mention: I have suffered from insomnia all my life, and I currently suffer from sleep apnea (I use a mouthpiece made by my dentist- it works ok sometimes)

**one thing that has helped tremendously: after 2pm I use zero caffeine. Been doing this for about 2 weeks, and my sleep quality has improved dramatically.

If I use a preworkout of any type before I go to the gym in the afternoon, I use a zero-stim one.

I recently switched to a stimulant free pre-workout and I think that's important as my workouts are usually around 4:00 p.m. I'm trying a wedge pillow which keeps my upper body slightly upright and I'm sleeping on my side as much as possible. Was using the nasal strips but the f****** things always end up on my forehead or elbow in the middle of the night haha
