Does anybody have a killer orkout for calves?

I realise there are a ton of programmes on the internet, but does anyone have any preferred workouts for calves?

The gym I go to doesn't have any specific calf machines, unfortunately.
I also don't really have any experience specifically targeting calves, as they're not something I've ever concerned myself with.

I'm looking to get killer claves within the next 8 months.
Any help would be appreciated.

Consistency. Start your workouts with them. That way you’ll make them a priority. I like to train mine three days a week and not on leg days.

I’ve always felt the key to great calf development is holding maximum contraction for a minimum two second hold and releasing slower on the eccentric part of the lift allowing your heels to go below the ball of your feet. I did as many quality reps possible each set and never stopped at a perceived number in my head.

I’ve lost count over the years, working in with others during calves, I’d lighten the weight from their set (on a machine) and they couldn’t believe what I was using compared to them. Once we spoke and showed them what they should be feeling with each rep instead of going through the motion with an abundance of weight they understood going forward.

I know it’s not a structured workout as you asked for, just some tips to help others.

wow, not on leg days.
I woudn't have thought of that.
Is there a reason not to do it on leg days?

On leg days, I start with a 5min grueling bike ride warming up my legs. Seriously, it feels as if I’ve done 6-8 sets of leg presses already when getting off the bike. In doing so, I move my feet around the pedals flexing my calves and get an incredible pump before finishing the 5 min.

Then it’s on. They’re engaged during every exercise of my workout ...squats, leg presses etc. My focus is on the quads and hamstrings on leg day. The finishing exercise is the bike for another 5min bike ride.

This right here. I've been training mine the same way and have been seeing some great results. I've been focused more on the contraction and the feel of my calves during each rep instead of the usual routine I see guys doing... Pounding reps out of control really quick with a ton of weight. If you weren't blessed with great genetics for calves, you have to be consistent and make them a priority.

The “secret” is consistency dedication and persistence

2 workouts a week

1 exercise gastroc 1 exercise soleus

1 warm up set each, 2 heavy hard sets, 1 burn out set

Superset then

Quick fast and done

You’d be surprised what that seemingly minimal commitment can do in a few months
