1099

My daughter informed me today that she has not yet done her taxes. I tried doing them on turbo tax but it said I’d have to upgrade to the $220 version to do so.

First I put her W2 in successfully. Then I tried to enter her 1099-NEC from DoorDash. It asked for a “Contol number” and the total income amount. There was no “control number” listed on her 1099.

I also tried using the picture option but that didn’t work either.

Can anybody help a brother out? She’s in school still and didn’t make much money last year so we’re not paying $220 to do her taxes

Control number is only an informational piece. It doesn't affect the return in any manner as the IRS doesn't have that info. Just put whatever in there. Can be a 1 or any number/letter combo.

Try using taxact instead. Last time i used a public service thats what i used. If it wasn't a 1099 she wouldn't even have to file but even if under the standard deduction amount you still have to pay SE tax on 1099 stuff. Shoot me a DM if you need any deeper help.

Thanks brother! I told her about it last night. I’ll definitely PM you if we have any more problems.
