It's the sugar because if you don't intake sugar to raise your blood glucose levels you're going to be in for a rough ride and can even die. There is a video of Rich Piana after he took a shot of insulin. He waited too long to eat something and he's standing there wobbling almost falling over barely able to speak. His blood glucose levels were so low he couldn't even comprehend opening the candy bar wrapper he had in his hand. He just stood there staring at it like "uuuuuuhhhhhh". All this while his evil bitch of a wife was recording not helping him, but I digress...

Insulin is kind of a taboo subject. Some say it's completely unnecessary, some say it's the best thing ever. If you're looking for a good source of information on the subject, Milo Sarcev is probably the godfather of insulin in bodybuilding.

I’m not saying that in a negative way mind you

but I watched his videos on YouTube where he explains his method of slin use and it is quite extreme

very elaborate - speaks of having different times of the day for fat burning, a muscle building time, etc

anyways when you compare it to a simplified 10 units a day with breakfast or 10 units post workout ….. yes his “professional grade” protocol is heavy

have you ever seen dosages for say a 225lb type II diabetic ?? or for a fat kid ??

Ive seen some take 40-60iu in a day - I know a nurse in an fancy old folks home and they throw out all insulin that Is opened after 30days

SO if you are only taking 10-20ius a day - a bottle will last WAY TOO LONG

all I'm saying in insulin dosages vary greatly - Ive seen MMA fighters trying to gain weight run slin in big dosages even

When I was young and very stupid, the protocol I found on the forums that I followed lead me to use 50 units preworkout. Probably happened 4 times that I could feel myself going hypo, so I had to cut my workout right there(it's not like going hypo on IGF where you feel it, but you can still power through your workout "safely") and race home. I didn't want to scare my wife and tell her what was happening, I just grabbed chips or anything out of the pantry and sat in my recliner and ate...until I'd pass out. Fortunately every time that happened the carbs would kick in and I'd wake up with a pile of chips on my stomach.

I've come back to insulin, I did slin late summer of last year, much different...one of Chad Nichols protocols where it's just once or twice a week on the day after your most important workout. 5-15 units with the 3 main meals. A little smarter, much better :)

Agreed. I looked at his protocol and while I don't mind complicated things, there was just way too many carbs, way beyond what I need according to when I check my blood glucose level. IMO 15grams of carbs per IU is pretty extreme and I know at least with me would just make me fat. After much experimenting with what I can tolerate, I do 20iu Pre workout in the morning and drink while working out a drink consisting of 25-30 grams of EAA's and 65 grams of Karbolyn. Then post workout I eat my normal breakfast.
