Default Road to 680kg @ 90kg

Ok so my last meet went decent and I totalled 600kg @ 86.7kg. I am taking off 6 months to focus on hypertrophy before I start prep for my next meet in May. I will post my routine of every session in this post up until meet day.

Sunday 8/5

Today was my first "heavy" squat day since the meet. I'm focusing on high bar squats for 6 months to work on my quads.

Today I hit the following:

315 3 sets of 5
315x6

That's all I did as I woke up late as shit and have to work early. Tomorrow I will do leg accessory work as my wife trains squats.

All were RPE 8 or below.

Flat:

45x10, 135x5, 185x5, 225x5, 275x6, 315x1, 135x38

Incline:

45x10, 95x5, 135x5, 185x5, 225x7, 255x1, 135x21

DB Flat

DB Incline

50x22

Tricep Pushdown

150 4x15

Today, 8/7 I did the following:

Back accessory work

3x25 90s DB rows (Heaviest DBs we have are 90s)
3x10 220 Cable Rows
3x12 160 Lat Pulldown
3x10 160 (Chin Up grip) Pulldown
3x20 30s DB Curls
3x20 30s DB Hammer curls
3x15 30s Rear Delt Fly
3x10 110 Face Pulls
3x20 15s DB Lateral Raise
135x10, 225x10, 315x10 followed by a giant drop set 405x6, 315x6, 225x6, 135x17 Barbell Shrugs

Bring some string into the gym and loop the smaller db's to the 90's =P

8/10

Today is high bar squat only, I hit the following (all 3-4 second descent)

45x5, 135x5, 225x3, 315x3, 335x3, 345x3, 355x3, 365x3 and my final set of 375x3.

Today was 3 second paused bench SUB RPE 8 and fasted. I hit the following:

45x10, 135x5, 185x2, 225x1, 255x1, 285x1, 315x1 (felt a pop in my tricep, luckily no tear but called it after that.)

Today I trained at Stefi Cohen's gym and hit a calibrated plate PR on squats and deadlifts. I worked up to 207.5kg squat and 272.5kg deadlift.

To much for me to read through RN but all I can say Is it may have to do with say squatting a max effort or close to it then 8 days later if you have a mock meet your going to be weak since you just went heavy week before...This is why a week before meet most guys hit openers aka a light single but and then take a week off and the openers are all they do...no assistance..otherwise the next week youll most likely have shitty lifts.. So that could be it OR the mock meet lifts were done strict with a pause on bench commands on squats etc which make it a bit harder.. IDK I'll give him benefit of doubt.Im sure we;ll see his meet performances or videos of actual max lifts eventually...I myself have pulled well over 600 plenty of times in gym and gotten redlighted with 680 (deserved) and 700(undeserved...lift was completey locked out and my competitors even asked me why i didnt get the lift which to this day I still kick myseldf for not asking the judge but oh well its coming again soon)deadlifts in meet but the highest I made in a meet was my opener maybe 600 or 625 since i jump 90lbs or more..Lucky for me I have videos of reps at 650 or i doubt anyone would believe me LOL..Then again imagine back in the day before videos you could claim anything if you didnt compete..People would have to trust you or go by the word of fellow gym members LOL

DK, don't waste your time. I pulled 272.5kg on Monday and I'm attempting 280+ in just about 4-5 weeks.
